3-D TOURNAMENTS

You can probably find a 3-D tournament somewhere on any given week-end between March and October and maybe even in the winter months.

This is fast becoming one of America's leading pastime since it includes the whole family. There is a class for the young ones normally 5-9,10-13,14-17, then you get into the adult classes. Ages in the various classes may vary from club to club. Most clubs have a class for women and men and then the traditional guys. Some have a top-gun or pro class also. But you can find a class that you will fit in according to your bow and equipment. All the rest is pure fun. Moreover, it also gets you into practicing for the fall hunting season.

The 3-D shoots are at an unknown distance with a target having a large kill zone with a smaller circle inside(some clubs use a smaller circle inside the circle for bonus points). The scoring is normally 10 for the larger circle, 8 for the kill zone, and 5 for the rest of the body. Some clubs have a one arrow shoot and others have a two arrow shoot, and scoring is according to the amount of arrows you have to shoot to hit the target, with the second arrow scoring lower.

Sighting in your bow.

Getting started in archery is about as complicated as getting into guns, you have to choose what type bow you want and what style you want to shoot, fingers or release.
Personnaly, I believe its easier to start with sights and a release, but there are as many sights on the market as bows or guns.

Once you have gotten your equipment, the rest is fun and fairly easy and enjoyable. If you have a spot where you can practice shooting at home it may save a little money as far as a place to shoot goes, however, a local pro-shop has an indoor shooting range with targets and he is available for any help or asisstance you may need.

Once you get your bow sighted in then you are ready for some real fun, look for a local club that has 3-D shoots and join. They will be glad to have a new member and more than likely you will make new friends and enjoy the company on a week-end of fun and humor.

Now you can go hunting for one of these .
